Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a state-run telecom company, has launched 4G in Ulloor village in the Udipi district. This development was shared by a user on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the post, the user posted the arrival of BSNL 4G from Mahalingeshwar Temple Ulloor. BSNL is rolling out 4G in Karnataka, and the first site of 4G in the state went live a few months back.

Earlier, BSNL had said that it plans to commission 672 new 4G towers across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. The work seems to be ongoing as BSNL is still quite far from reaching its target of 1 lakh 4G sites throughout the nation. The 4G that is being rolled out in these small villages and districts is driven by the 4G saturation project of the central government.
The last time BSNL gave an update for the Udipi area, the telco had said that 30 out of the 36 sites had been equipped with towers. This is a great development for BSNL users living in the area as they can now get 4G connectivity at an extremely lower rate compared to the private telecom operators' offerings.

BSNL has been using USOF (Universal Service Obligation Fund), which is now rebranded as Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) for rolling out 4G in small towns and villages. USOF is being used to fuel the 4G saturation project throughout India. BSNL has also recently teased that it will bring 4G connectivity for users living in Mumbai and Delhi. It is worth noting that in Mumbai and Delhi, the moble network services are being offered through the brand of MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited), but the backend services are handled and operated by BSNL.
