Asus was the first brand to unveil smartphones this year. The Taiwanese company, at the CES 2017 event in January 2017 unveiled two smartphones- Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom and Asus Zenfone AR. However, both the smartphones are yet to reach various markets. While the Zenfone 3 Zoom went on for sale in some markets, the Zenfone AR's pricing was revealed recently.
The Zenfone AR is a high-end smartphone with both Daydream and Tango support. The Zenfone 3 Zoom is Asus's first smartphone to pack dual cameras at the back. The Zenfone 3 Zoom was released with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with Zen UI on top. Thankfully, ahead of releasing the smartphone in other countries, Asus rolled out the Android 7.0 Nougat update, which brings some new features and solves the performance issues.
The update removes the complete bloatware in the smartphone, which is a very good sign of Asus looking to compete with the rivals in software segment as well. After the upgrade, you can shoot photos in RAW format. Also, the Zen Launcher now comes with Google Now, and Google Assistant baked.
Furthermore, it brings the Portrait mode, which uses two camera lens in a smartphone to blur the background heavily to make the images look standout. There are some minor changes and various bug fixes in the latest Android Nougat update for Zenfone 3 Zoom.
Asus did not mention about the security patch update included in the new update. It might be the June security patch fixes. The update takes the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and weighs about 1.1GB in size. You can check for the update by heading over to Settings>About Phone> Software Updates.
As said earlier, the Zenfone 3 Zoom is yet to reach may countries including India. Asus, earlier this month confirmed that they would launch the product in India, but the launch date is still unknown. Moreover, Asus is already teasing the Zenfone AR launch in India. However, the launch date is unknown, but it will happen in the second week of July.
