Aircel Revises All Pocket Internet Plans, Post-FUP Speed at 64kbps

In a recent revision on data tariff India's leading mobile operator Aircel has started offering 3G speed (upto 3.6 Mbps) on 2G data packs (pocket internet). The revision is done in selected circles with heavy reduction in bundled data usage and validity of the packs.

This revision stands at similar offerings by Airtel, Vodafone and Idea. STV 5 which was offering 50 MB for 1 day, is now for 30MB. Unlimited STV 14 and STV 29, for 3 & 7 days are now limited plans - offer 120 MB and 200MB respectively. Another 30 day plan STV98 which was offering unlimited ( FUP of 3GB applicable in certain circles) usage, is now offering 650 MB for 21 days.

Here goes the latest 2G & 3G Internet packs from Aircel:

The screenshot taken from Aircel's website is confusing, as on limited plans it says post-fup speed will be 64kbps. It seems that on these limited packs, which are actually 2G packs will offer 3G access at 64 kbps. It is similar approach done by Reliance and BSNL where all customers get access to 3G network, but speed gets capped once he recharges with 2G pack.

At the same time on low-end unlimited 3G packs, post-FUP speed will be 64kbps.

Recently Aircel tied up with Magicon Mobiles to offer 1GB 3G data, 250 minutes of talktime, 250 SMS per month for 3 months with Magicon Ultrasmart Q7. Priced at Rs 8999 Q7 comes with 4.63" display, 1GHz dual core processor, 512 MB RAM, 4GB ROM, 8MP camera, front VGA camera and 1600 mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.0 ICS.
