Micromax’s sub-brand YU is planning on launching another device in India, and it is teasing it as the “most powerful smartphone ever”. The forthcoming device has been dubbed as “Yutopia”, with a codename ‘Project Achilles’.
Interestingly, the company will be manufacturing it in India as a part of ‘Make in India’ campaign. Rumors are that YU might launch the device around the festive, most probably around Diwali. So, we can expect the device to be unveiled sometime in October. Going by the past leaks, this device could be the YU 5050, whose benchmarks surfaced online earlier this month before the YU Yunique launch. YU’s founder, Rahul Sharma, took to Twitter last week and tweeted about Yutopia, mentioning it the real beast.
There is not much information available as of now, but going by the leaked benchmarks, we can assume that the forthcoming device might come powered with Snapdragon 810 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. It might also sport a 5.2-inch display, a 21-megapixel primary camera along with an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Leaks also suggest that the device will be available in two variants - the first one with 3GB of RAM, 1080p display, and the second with 4GB of RAM and a 2K display.
Mocking the OnePlus 2, YU has been calling the upcoming device ‘real flagship killer’. Internal sources from the company even made a statement that ”This would be a no-compromise smartphone, with the best specifications and the highest benchmark rating,” India has been a one-stop destination for YU, and so far the company has released smartphones under the 10k category, such as the Yureka, Yuphoria, Yureka Plus, and Yunique. It is the first time that YU is branding its upcoming device as a ‘flagship’. It would be interesting to see what YU has in store for us and if lives up to its promises.
