Motorola has already confirmed that they will be unveiling the first flagship smartphones of 2017- the Moto Z2 and the Moto Z2 Force. As seen with most of the smartphones released this year, both the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force have leaked numerous times, which allegedly confirmed all the specs of both devices, and some even gave a look at how the smartphones look.
Here's everything to expect from the Motorola launch event on July 25.
Smaller Battery on Moto Z2 Force
Motorola surprised everyone by releasing the Moto Z2 Play with a smaller battery, compared to the last year’s Moto Z Play. And the same is going to happen with the Moto Z2 Force as well. According to some reports surfaced online, Motorola is shaving off the battery size of the Moto Z2 Force by 20 percent to make the device thinner. The battery to be used in the Z2 Force will be a 2730mAh unit, which is disappointing and nowhere comes close to other flagship phones battery capacity of minimum 3000mAh. The battery on the Moto Z2 will be even smaller because it would be a thinner smartphone than the Z2 Force.
Moto Z2 Force to Have a Shatterproof Display
While last year's Moto Z2 Force arrived with a shatterproof display and a massive battery, this year's Moto Z2 Force will just have a shatterproof display to separate it from the standard Moto Z2. The Moto Z2 doesn't have a shatterproof display, but the display is expected to be covered by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. And the displays would be a 5.5-inch Quad HD panels on both phones.
Dual Camera Setup
Well, the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force are set to become Motorola's first dual camera smartphones. The Moto Z2 & Moto Z2 Force will arrive with twin 12MP cameras at the back, as opposed to the single camera unit seen on the first generation Moto Z lineup. The front-facing camera of 5MP will remain the same, which will come with dual LED flash support on both the phones.
Powered by Snapdragon 835 Chipset
The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force will be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM (the US version). Rest of the world will get a much powerful 6GB of RAM variant. The internal storage in the phone will be 64GB, while the Chinese Moto Z2 Force will have 128GB of internal storage. However, the Indian launch of the Moto Z2 Force is still a mystery because the company did not launch the Moto Z Force in the country for some unknown reasons.
Moto Mods Support
Same as the first generation Moto Z smartphones, the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force will have support for Moto Mods, which allows you to swap accessories from the back of the phone. That said, both the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force will support first generation Moto Mods.
Moto X4 Might Be Unveiled As Well
The Moto X4 will be company’s mid-range smartphone and currently has two set of rumoured specifications. One says that the device will have a 5.2-inch display, Snapdragon 660 SoC, 4GB of RAM, dual camera setup, and a beefy 3800mAh battery. Other rumour says that the device will have a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 3000mAh battery.
Also, the Moto X4 is said to be Motorola’s first IP68 certified smartphone because the company relies on nano-coating to protect the device from water spills. There are two mid-range smartphones- the Moto G5s and G5s+ in the pipeline as well. At the moment, Motorola has confirmed the launch of the Z2 Force only, and there's a possibility that the Moto Z2 may not be unveiled as well.
