Transfers Frequency Block to Yettel

In the first agreement, Magyar Telekom agreed to transfer the usage rights of a 2×5 MHz frequency block in the 2100 MHz band to Yettel. This frequency, originally acquired in December 2018, is valid until June 2027 and will be sold at its book value.

The transaction awaits approval from the National Media and Communications Authority and is not expected to impact Magyar Telekom’s customer service, the company said.

2G Mobile Access Agreement

Additionally, Magyar Telekom signed a 2G mobile access agreement with Yettel, effective from January 1, 2026. This agreement allows Magyar Telekom to handle 2G traffic via Yettel’s network, enabling more efficient use of spectrum and energy.

This move is intended to optimise spectrum and energy efficiency, freeing up resources for the expansion of Magyar Telekom’s 4G and 5G services.

The company noted that these agreements are expected to have minimal financial impact.
