Do you own a Lenovo K3 Note? If yes, then here is a good news for you. The device is finally getting an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The update brings support for TheaterMax VR technology. To recap, the K3 Note was launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, which means it skipped Android 5.1 update and is jumping directly to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The over-the-air (OTA) Android 6.0 update for the K3 Note is of 1.65GB, which also includes Android security patch for March 2016. For those users who find the OTA download slow or have not received the update yet, then you can head over to this link to download the OTA file and flash it manually.
Android 6.0 brings a variety of features onboard such as Power and Charging, App Permissions, Web Experience, App Links, and much more. The update also adds up the Doze battery saving feature, which utilises motion detection to close background activity whenever the smartphone is in standby mode, however, it will still run important background features such as alarms.
In accordance with Lenovo’s official Android Upgrade Matrix, it rolled out Marshmallow update before the scheduled April release. However, the company is yet to confirm the update rollout for the A7000, A7000 Plus, Vibe P1, Vibe S1, Vibe K4 Note, Vibe Shot, and Vibe X3 series of smartphones.
It's always a delight to see devices receiving the Marshmallow update, especially the sub 15k smartphones. Given the fact that Android 6.0's rollout has been pretty slow and a major chunk of Android users are still stuck on KitKat, Jelly Bean, and Lollipop versions.
With Android N under its development phase, we expect manufacturers to start rolling out Marshmallow update sooner.
