Tata Sky Set-Top Boxes Receive Rs 400 Price Cut, HD Set-Top Box Now Available for Rs 1,800

In the latest move to please the new subscribers and to dominate the DTH industry, Tata Sky has reduced the prices of its set-top boxes. The prominent DTH provider has announced that it has reduced the prices of its set-top boxes by Rs 400 for both the standard definition and high definition options. According to the company, this will make Tata Sky connections available for an even larger set of audience which remains untapped across the country. Going forward, the Tata Sky SD set-top box will be available for Rs 1,600 whereas the HD set-top box from Tata Sky will be available for Rs 1,800.

Tata Sky Drops STB Prices to Lure More Customers

Tata Sky has also said that with this move it aims to reach more and more customers in the rural and urban areas and want to ensure that more and more people in India have access to a plethora of digital-quality channels & services. The company also noted that the set-top box will now be available at local dealers and retail stores across towns and villages in India with the new price tag.

It is worth noting that Tata Sky offers 4 set-top box options for its subscribers and these include - Tata Sky 4K, Tata Sky HD+, Tata Sky HD and Tata Sky SD. As the name suggests, the Tata Sky SD set-top box is a minimal offering which will facilitate SD channels only. The sound quality on this STB will also be lower than its HD counterparts as this one comes with PCM based audio only.

Tata Sky Set-Top Box Features and Other Details

On the other hand, there is the 4K option in Tata Sky set-top boxes, which also allows subscribers to stream content in 4K. The other two options include the HD and the HD+ set-top boxes. The HD set-top box from Tata Sky offers 1080p resolution 3G compatibility and 16:9 aspect ratio. In addition to this, subscribers get to experience better sound quality as the HD variant comes with Dolby Digital Surround and Dolby Digital Plus Surround. The HD+ option of the Tata Sky set-top box, however, comes with one feature which is not present on all the other STBs and this feature allows subscribers to stream video-on-demand content.

The HD variant of the set-top box comes with a 500GB hard disk, option to record from a mobile phone, karaoke, option to rewind, forward pause and Series Recording. Previously, the SD STB from Tata Sky was available for Rs 2,000 whereas now its price has come down to Rs 1,600. On the other hand, the HD set-top box from Tata Sky will be available for Rs 1,800 now.
