Google Pixel 2 and First-Gen Pixels Will Also Get the Support

This update incorporating the external microphone support on older Pixel phones should become available at the same time as the retail launch of "Pixel 3", The Verge reported on Sunday. Some third-party Android camera apps like "Open Camera" have already allowed external microphones to record audio while creators and users recorded video using a Pixel device.

Older Pixel Smartphones Will Get Several New Camera Features

Apart from rolling out the external microphone support to the Pixel phones, the older models are also set to gain many new camera software features. Google has added features such as adjustable portrait blur, Night Sight, Gmail Smart Compose, Google Playground, Google Duplex and Call Screen to the new Pixel 3 devices. All these features will be making their way to the older Pixel 2 and first-generation Pixel models.

Notably, other features such as wide-angle selfies, top shot, photobooth mode will be exclusive to the Pixel 3 series itself.
