Samsung is reportedly working on yet another mid-range Galaxy device with the model number SM-G8750, which is also being touted as the Samsung Galaxy S8 Lite for now. The upcoming device which paid a visit to benchmark services last month has now been certified by Chinese regulatory portal, TENAA. The device could probably go official in the next couple of weeks, but the certification site has confirmed the complete specifications of the smartphone along with the design. And yes, it sports a similar design to the Galaxy S8 duo and yes, it also comes with a dedicated Bixby button on the left.

The Galaxy S8 Lite will be a stripped down version of the Galaxy S8 released last year, and it boasts similar design as the latter. The phone is listed to have a 5.8-inch Full HD+ Infinity Display on the front with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. One of the massive letdowns for the Galaxy S8 was the awkwardly placed fingerprint scanner, and the scanner position remains the same on the S8 Lite. To the back, there will be a single rear camera of 16MP with an LED flash along with a single 8MP front-facing camera.

The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC, and certified to come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The smartphone will be IP68 dust and water certified and weighs 155grams. It will run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box, layered with Samsung's Experience UI on top. The device will also come with the same 3000mAh battery as the Galaxy S8 with fast charging support.

Essentially, Samsung is changing the display resolution, processor and cameras on the Galaxy S8 Lite. The benchmark listing from last month also revealed the presence of Snapdragon 660 SoC, so it' safe to assume that Samsung is going with the mid-range SoC.

The launch date of the smartphone is yet to be revealed. Alongside the Galaxy S8 Lite, Samsung is also expected to launch a stripped down version of the Galaxy S9 as Galaxy S9 Lite or Galaxy A8 Star in some countries with dual cameras and the same Snapdragon 660 SoC. So maybe the Galaxy S8 Lite will make into some countries like India, while the Galaxy S9 Lite or A8 Star will be limited to the European market. That said, Samsung is yet to confirm the same, so take this with a pinch of salt.
