WhatsApp and telecom operator Reliance Jio has started a new campaign under which both the firms will train people on how to use mobile messaging platform responsibly on their JioPhones. As part of this campaign, WhatsApp and Jio will visit various cities and explain people about the dos and dont's on the platform. For the uninitiated, WhatsApp has recently launched a new version for JioPhone users, which will extend its user base in the country and at the same time might become a headache for the Facebook-owned company as fake news spreading will be increased. To solve the fake new spreading issue, WhatsApp is conducting this campaign in collaboration with Jio.

Starting October 9, WhatsApp and Jio would visit ten cities in different states including Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan for street plays and engage users to guide them on meaningful and positive ways of WhatsApp use. "Jio has an important role in driving India's digital revolution by empowering millions of Indians. We are excited to... help organise a campaign that educates people on how to communicate in a simple and safe way," a WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement, as reported by IANS.

India is the largest market for WhatsApp as it has over 200 million active users and the count is growing big with every passing month. It's also worth noting that India has become a headache for the company at the same time because the government is pushing hard at the company to come up with a solution for curbing fake news spreading.

Even the government asked WhatsApp to trace out the origin of a fake message, but WhatsApp denied it because it has to break the encryption. So the company is conducting awareness campaigns across the country so that the impact of spam could be a reduced a bit. WhatsApp is already conducting a radio campaign in 15 popular cities, and now, it has come up with a new campaign in partnership with Jio.

To recall, Reliance Jio introduced mobile app WhatsApp on its 4G feature phone device, JioPhone in September. The companies have jointly developed video tutorials and informative leaflets, available online and in Jio Stores in 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali and Marathi. As mentioned above, WhatsApp has over 200 million monthly active users in India and is one of the most popular mobile apps worldwide.
