Vivo has started pushing media invites for its forthcoming launch event for the Vivo V5 Plus smartphone in India. The launch date for the device has been set for January 23. Similar to the Vivo V5, the V5 Plus is also a camera-centric smartphone with more focus on the dual front camera. The Vivo V5 Plus was also teased at the India launch event of the Vivo V5.
The company has not revealed much about the device in the media invite, but we hope to see a few leaks before the launch. For now, we only know that the device is an incremental upgrade over the V5. Vivo had been working on improving front camera setup on its phone, and the company emphasised on the front camera with moonlight glow for low-light selfie capture on the V5.
To recap, the Vivo V5 features a 5.5-inch HD display (1280 x 720 pixels) with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. An Octa-Core MediaTek MT6750 processor clocked at 1.5GHz powers the device with Mali T860 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It packs 32GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The device also sports a water-resistant fingerprint sensor, which is embedded into the Home button and unlocks the device in just 0.2 seconds.
The phone sports a 20-megapixel front-facing camera with Sony IMX376 sensor and 5P lens. It is the first smartphone to sport such high-resolution front camera, which is clubbed with ‘Moonlight Glow’ flash. There is a 13-megapixel rear camera with single-LED flash. The Vivo V5 runs Android 6.0-based Funtouch 2.6 OS. A 3000mAh battery backs the smartphone. For connectivity, the Vivo V5 supports Hybrid dual-SIM, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS, and USB OTG. The phone measures 153.8 x 75.5 x 7.55mm and weighs 154 grams.
