U Mobile Partners with 8 State-Backed Companies for 5G Rollout in Malaysia
Malaysian operator U Mobile has announced partnerships with eight state-backed Network Facility Provider companies (SBCs) to accelerate the rollout of Malaysia's second 5G network under the government's dual network model. The MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) will see U Mobile tap into the local talent, expertise, and tower infrastructure footprint of these eight companies to prepare for the country's second 5G network rollout, U Mobile said in a recent announcement.

Members of the PPIT Consortium

These eight SBCs are members of Persatuan Penyedia Infrastruktur Telekomunikasi (PPIT) Malaysia and include D'Harmoni Telco Infra, Konsortium Jaringan Selangor, Perlis Comm, Infra Quest, Sacofa, Desabina Industries, PDC Telecommunication Services, and PINS Network Solutions (PPIT Consortium). This partnership will facilitate knowledge sharing and provide access to tower structures, space, and power, accelerating the establishment of 5G sites nationwide.

Cost-Efficient Commercial Models

Additionally, the parties will establish cost-efficient commercial models for various infrastructure requirements, including built-to-suit sites, co-locations, and site upgrades, with the goal of establishing a competitive and sustainable offering between U Mobile and the PPIT Consortium, the official release said.
