Fiber-Optic Boost for Enhanced 5G

The company said it has invested significantly in upgrading its network infrastructure. Over 10,000 5G sites now have fibre-optic connections with speeds of 10 Gbps, accounting for nearly 40 percent of all Telekom’s 5G sites. This higher data throughput enables improved capacity and peak data rates for customers in specific mobile cells, particularly in high-traffic areas.

10 Gbps Connections

By 2026, Telekom said it plans to equip over 28,000 mobile network locations with 10 Gbps high-speed connections. Telekom Deutschland emphasized that the surge in mobile data traffic, growing at around 30 percent annually, demands such advanced network expansion to meet user expectations.
