Xiaomi has launched the successor to the Redmi 3s in India- the Redmi 4. Xiaomi stuck to basics and launched the phone in three variants with the price of the base variant at Rs. 6999 and goes all the way up to Rs. 10,999 for the premium variant. Xiaomi is riding on ‘4’ series of phones this year in India. The Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A, and now the Redmi 4, which is essentially the Redmi 4X launched in China last year.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4 comes with a 5-inch HD display, layered with a 2.5D curved glass on top that adds a decent look and feel to the phone. The design of the phone is similar to the Redmi 4A, sans the metal body and the fingerprint sensor at the back. All the three variants of the Redmi 4 sports fingerprint sensor at the rear side, placed within reach of the index finger.
The Redmi 4 is armed by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset, clubbed with 2GB RAM/16GB internal storage or 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage, or 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage. The 2GB/16GB variant costs Rs. 6,999, the 3GB/32GB options costs Rs. 8,999, whereas the 4GB/64GB variant costs Rs. 10,999.
Coming to the camera, the Redmi 4 has a 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, PDAF, LED flash. It also has a 5MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. Xiaomi said that the phone would run Android Marshmallow based MIUI 8 out-of-the-box, but the beta Android Nougat MIUI ROM will be released in coming weeks.
