Micromax recently teased that it was going to launch a new product line on April 30. The new product that the Indian OEM was planning to launch is the Canvas LapTab which is a 2-in-1 hybrid device. It has been priced at Rs 14,999 and will be available exclusively on Amazon.in from May 6th.
The Canvas LapTab has a 10.1-inch IPS display and comes with a full-fledged keyboard which has a built-in touchpad as well. The device can double as a tablet and a workstation on-the-go too. It gets a 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor under the hood and 2GB of RAM for multitasking. This is Micromax’s first mainstream Windows 8.1 hybrid device. It comes with a SIM card slot which is meant for facilitating the use of 3G connectivity. It come pre-loaded with a full version of Office 365.
Micromax Canvas LapTab specifications:
- 10.1-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels
- Windows 8.1 with built-in keyboard
- Intel Atom Z3735F SoC, 1.33GHz quad-core processor with a turbo boost up to 1.86GHz
- 2GB RAM
- 32GB of internal storage
- 2-megapixel front and rear camera (fixed focus)
- 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB for connectivity
- 7,700 mAh battery
The company has more similar products in the pipeline and will continue to explore the personal computing space. Such devices allow the user the mobility of a tablet and the convenience of typing on a laptop in one place. This is also the least priced 10.1-inch hybrid device in the country. Comparable devices from the likes of Acer, Notion Ink, Lenovo and the likes cost at least Rs 4,000-5,000 more so Micromax has an edge as far as the pricing is concerned. Durability of the device is something that remains to be seen.
