HD televisions are being adapted at an increased rate thanks to the price drops and the manufacturers intensively campaigning for the same. High Definition is actually referred to the resolution of the Television and also the frame rates. The 720 scan lines are usually referred as HD Ready and the 1080p is full HD. If you are hooked to the cable TV or the DTH then the HD ready TV will suffice. If you are a blue blooded Videophile who is passionate about watching movies in BLU Ray then the full HD TV is a better bet.

We would also recommend the Full HD TV to intensive gamers who burn their daily quota of calories gaming. It is not enough if you just go and purchase a HD Tv you would be requiring HD DTH or HD cable connection. We have curated the DTH operators who offer the most number of HD channels so that it will be easy for you to pick.

Vidoecon D2H offers the highest number of HD channels in DTH with the total standing at 27. The HD set top box is priced slightly higher at Rs2000.

Tata Sky offers a total of 24 HD channels and the HD packs are differentiated based on the categories. If you are a movie buff then you can just select the HD Movie package. The price difference for HD and normal set-top box is minimal at Rs400. Tata Sky also has an option for swapping your old set-top box with newer ones. Even Tata Sky recently showcased its 4K UHD set top boxes in India.

Airtel DTH offers 21HD channels including the recently added Colors HD and History TV 18. The HD pack is priced at a modest Rs175 per month.

SUN Direct has a very limited number of HD channels at just 10 channels. Reliance Digital has an impressive 11 HD channels .

If you prefer having a cable connection and feel that the DTH is on the more expensive side then you are in luck as Hathway offers you a platter with 31 HD channels which includes movie channels like the HBO Hits HD and the Star Movies HD with the Audio channel supporting Dolby 5.1.
