BSNL was notorious for requiring a customer to visit Customer Service Centers to avail minor services - STV activation, registered mobile number change etc.. In the recent times things have changed with SMS based registrations. Now BSNL has started allowing customers to register mobile numbers (BSNL only at present) other than the one provided in the CAF form at the time of registering for a landline connection. The enhanced system allows customers to register complaints for faulty landline and broadband by SMS in addition to few more.
SMS Short code for these services is 53334. To avail the services one has to register mobile number first.

We feel this is a welcome move from BSNL. Let's hope BSNL starts providing more such facilities in near future. In my personal experience, I failed to go green as their CRM didn't register my request properly. Such things rarely happen with SMS based systems but BSNL must take care about them.
