After recent network outage of Idea network in Kerala, BSNL 3G network is experiencing disruption across the state. The problem started three days back and as per update from BSNL customer care, the disruption was due to 3G network upgrade happening across the state.
BSNL customers are getting slow speed 3G internet and experience call drop while connected to BSNL 3G network. However, BSNL 2G network is not affected by the issue and customer care are advising customers to use 2G till issue is resolved. Local newspaper Manorama has reported, technical problems with BSNL GPRS gateway in Chennai as the cause of issue. BSNL has been doing maintenance on this node for the last three days which has affected BSNL 3G users across south zone.
BSNL's preferred vendor ZTE is currently working to restore node service. While the outage is not severe as Idea's network outage earlier this month, slow speed 3G has affected many of its subscribers across the state who use BSNL 3G for affordable data. Recently, BSNL had become the second largest operator in Kerala by adding more than 1 lac subscribers per month for the last 6 months.
Recently even Idea subscribers from various parts of Kerala, including Kannur, Kottayam, Kollam and Trivandrum had to face network outage due to power failure. Although the accurate reason behind the sudden network outage is not known, it is said to be due to some technical issue in the master switch facility of Idea network at Kakkanad, Kochi.
Did you face any issue with your BSNL connection do let us know via comments.
