At the time of announcing the Android 7.0 Nougat, Google confirmed that it would roll it out by Q3 2016. A Canadian carrier, Telus has now released its Nougat roll out schedule, which states that the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X would get the Nougat update on August 22.
In 2015, Google published Android 6.0 Marshmallow factory pictures for Nexus devices on October 5. Going by that, Telus says that the Nougat update is expected to go live on Monday. Telus states that “all dates are approximate and subject to change.” for the last minute bug fixes. Last month, Google published the Android 7.0 developer preview 5 for Nexus devices. Interestingly, the schedule released by Telus also mentions BlackBerry Priv, but it will only get a security update instead of Nougat.
The search engine giant released the Android 7.0 developer preview 4 in June, which came packed with final Android N SDK and final APIs (API level 24). Both the preview four and five were full of bug fixes and software optimisations across pre-installed apps rather than any bringing any new feature.
Besides, Google might also release the HTC-made Nexus devices, codenamed - Sailfish and Marlin in the coming few weeks. These devices would come pre-loaded with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.
Google has not yet confirmed the authenticity of this schedule published by Telus. So. it is better to take it with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned with us for more on the expected roll out of Nougat on August 22. In the meantime, you can share your views on this schedule in the comment section below.
