Airtel asks customers in Hyderabad to upgrade to 4G SIM cards, official launch evident?

Earlier today, a number of Airtel customers in Hyderabad (including me), have received a message from Airtel requesting to upgrade their SIM cards to avail 4G services on their devices. This means that Airtel is officially stating that it has launched 4G services in Hyderabad?

Last month, we had reported that Airtel might soon launch 4G LTE services in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circles. The report also stated that Airtel’s 4G services will be launched first in Greater Hyderabad, and then in Vizag and Vijaywada.

After activating the 4G sim which we got free of cost, do the number will change or it will remain the same?

@Utkarsh – why will the number change? with the new USIM (which Airtel is providing) you can use 2G, 3G and 4G on the same SIM and same number.
