British telecommunications provider Virgin Media O2 has launched its high-speed Gigabit broadband service in Yeovil, offering speeds of up to 2 Gbps — 38 times faster than the local average. The company said this expansion is part of a significant network upgrade completed by nexfibre, which aims to bring full-fibre connections to 5 million UK homes by 2026. Expansion to Yeovil

Virgin Media O2 said, "18,000 more homes in Yeovil can now feel the benefit of Virgin Media’s services – with packages that include everything from next-generation multigigabit broadband to easy-to-use TV streaming and entertainment services." Nexfibre added, “Nexfibre's multi-million pound investment in Yeovil will enable thousands of households to access the benefits of full-fibre broadband."

Investment and Future Plans

Virgin Media O2 said it invests around GBP 2 billion annually in its network and services, offers gigabit speeds across its entire service area, and is upgrading to full fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology. Alongside broadband, its mobile network covers 99 percent of the UK population with 4G and is expanding its 5G coverage, the company added.
