Xiaomi has officially announced the Redmi 6 Pro smartphone in China today and as expected, it's yet another Xiaomi smartphone with the good-old Snapdragon 625 SoC and also the first Redmi phone with a notch display. The Redmi 6 Pro is essentially the Redmi S2 (Redmi Y2 in India) with metal body, bigger battery and a notch display. Also, the pricing of the Redmi 6 Pro is similar to the Redmi S2 in China. It's unknown when the Redmi 6 Pro will be coming to the Indian market. Mostly, Xiaomi will skip this smartphone because it recently launched the Redmi S2 and Redmi Y2 in India at a starting price of Rs 9,999.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Specifications: Yet Another Snapdragon 625 SoC Smartphone

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro measures 149.33 x 71.68 x 8.75 mm and weighs 178 grams, thanks to the metal body and 4000mAh battery inside. Aforesaid, it's the first Redmi series smartphone to sport a notch on top of the display. The smartphone has a 5.84-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone has been launched in multiple colour options- Black, Blue, Red, Gold, and Rose Gold.

Xiaomi's love with Snapdragon 625 SoC continues as the Redmi 6 Pro is the latest entrant to the long list Xiaomi smartphones with the said SoC. The Snapdragon SoC might have received a successor in the form of Snapdragon 636, but one should not forget that it's still one of the best mid-range SoCs available in the market right now. The chipset works in tandem with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. There's a dedicated microSD card slot as well for storage expansion up to 256GB. Xiaomi usually doesn't release smartphones with triple card slot in China, but that has changed with the Redmi 6 Pro.

Moving onto other details, the Redmi 6 Pro has a 4000mAh battery, but still no fast charging support. The device is rated to last more than one day on a single charge. Cameras in the Redmi 6 Pro include a 12MP primary shooter on the rear which works in tandem with a 5MP depth sensor. The camera app comes loaded with features such as AI Portrait mode, AI Beauty mode, EIS and more. Up front, the Redmi 6 Pro has a 5MP shooter.

The fingerprint scanner has been added on the rear side, and the phone even offers Face Unlock functionality based on AI. The Redmi 6 Pro still runs on MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, which is disappointing as Xiaomi should've released the handset with MIUI 10.

Xiaomi removed the IR Blaster from the Redmi 6 and 6A, but it added the feature back on the Redmi 6 Pro. Other connectivity options in the Redmi 6 Pro include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro USB port, still no USB Type-C port.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Pricing

Rs 10,486), while the 4GB/32GB storage option costs 1199 Yuan (approx. Rs 12,586). Lastly, the 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage is priced at 1299 Yuan (approx. Rs 13,636).
