Honor is taking long strides in the mobile phone sector especially when it comes to Indian Market. The Huawei based e-brand is competing with the likes of Xiaomi and other big players to make its place on the smartphone rankings and give the other guys a big competition. To support that move Honor has rolled out a pretty interesting safety feature for its premium offering in the mid-range segment, the Honor 9 Lite. The feature is called ‘Ride Mode’, and we are here to tell you all about it. This is the same S-Bike Mode Samsung introduced with its smartphones a couple of years ago.
The Ride Mode update will be rolled out exclusively for Honor 9 Lite and will be initiated in batches using the over-the-air (OTA) update. Like the name suggests, the feature will enable the users to safely operate their smartphone while driving a two wheeler vehicle.
The company knows that there have been many fatal accidents involving the usage of phones while driving two-wheelers in the country and thus wants to ensure safe usage of the phone. Apparently, Honor is going to finish pushing the OTA update by the end of March. The company also didn’t forget to add that the Honor 7X, and Honor 9i were the next in line to receive this feature.
To enable the ‘Ride Mode’ users will need to do so using the drop-down menu or through their phone settings. The feature will essentially function as Do-Not-Disturb notice and will send a message to the caller saying that the user won’t be able to pick the call since he’s driving right now. Although the app restricts receiving calls, the feature will allow the phone users to dial emergency numbers.
The Honor 9 Lite is one of the good-looking smartphones available for purchase under Rs 15,000. Sporting a 5.65-inch screen with an 18:9 IPS display, equipped with dual cameras on both the front and rear, the Honor 9 Lite boots Android 8.0 Oreo. The Honor 9 Lite is currently retailing for Rs 10,999 for the base variant, and the premium variant will set you back by Rs 14,999. The Honor 9 Lite faces stiff competition from the Redmi Note 5 in the sub Rs 15,000 price point.
