Entry-Level Tenor D Picks Up January 2018 Security Update and Improvements to Reliance Jio VoLTE

Tenor, the Chinese brand is seeding a new update to its Rs 4,999 smartphone, the Tenor D (first impressions). The OTA update weighing around 531MB brings improvements and January 2018 security patch fixes. Tenor D users across the country started receiving the new update. If the update notification doesn’t appear automatically, head over to the System Updates section in Settings app to manually check for the OTA update. Also, make sure that you’ve some internal memory left on your device to download the system update.

As stated, this update brings January 2018 security patch fixes and not February 2018 security patch. Furthermore, the update changelog states improvements to Reliance Jio VoLTE. Tenor also added an option to allow users enable/disable the camera shutter sound, which is a nice little feature to have around.

And a necessary has been added as well. Tenor is now allowing users to display battery percentage on the status bar. Earlier, users had to enable the setting under the System Tuner settings, which adds a small battery number inside the battery icon. In addition, whenever a user using the call recorder application, the recording status will be shown in the status bar.

Besides these, the changelog states improvements to system and performance fixes too. The Tenor D is a ‘Crafted for Amazon’ smartphone and is one of the hottest smartphones on the web right now, thanks to its super affordable price. Amazon is selling the Tenor D smartphone at Rs 4,999 and Rs 5,999. And for that price, Tenor is offering a fingerprint scanner, Snapdragon 425 SoC, and stock Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Tenor D is currently available in a flash sale model, and it’s a direct competitor the Xiaomi Redmi 5A which is also available at the same Rs 4,999 price tag. The Tenor D also has a massive 3500mAh battery inside.
