Xiaomi Mi A3 is the new Android One smartphone in India with Snapdragon 665 chipset. Xiaomi says the Mi A3 is all about design, battery life and cameras. The Mi A3 comes in three colours- Not Just Blue, More than White and Kind of Grey. Like the Redmi Note 7 series, the Mi A3 comes with a glass back with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone comes in two variants with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage, and yes, there's a microSD card slot for storage expansion this time around. Xiaomi Mi A3: Specifications and Features
The Xiaomi Mi A3 is an Android One smartphone, so it comes with a stock version of Android 9 Pie out of the box. Xiaomi is also promising Android Q update for the Mi A3, ahead of many other phones in the market. The Xiaomi Mi A3 features a glass back, similar to the Redmi Note 7, Note 7 Pro and Note 7S smartphones. As mentioned, the phone comes in three colours with all of them featuring gradient back. Xiaomi says the glass back is a 3D curved one, a design element which it took from the flagship Redmi K20 series.
The biggest talking point about the Mi A3 is the display; Xiaomi has gone with a 6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display for the Mi A3 which is a downgrade from the Mi A2 and Mi A1 smartphones. Thanks to the usage of the AMOLED screen, the Mi A3 offers 7th Gen in-display fingerprint scanner. The screen of the phone is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Moving onto the cameras, the Mi A3 sports triple rear camera setup. There's a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 119-degree field-of-view and a 2MP depth sensor for capturing background information. Xiaomi says it tweaked the 48MP sensor over the last six months since its first usage on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. On the front, the Mi A3 has a 32MP selfie camera, present inside the Dot Notch on display. Both the front and rear cameras offer Portrait mode inside the camera app.
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and GLONASS. The phone comes backed by a 4030mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Hardware-wise, we get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset, paired with 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB. The phone also features a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 512GB.
Xiaomi Mi A3: Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Mi A3 prices in India starts at Rs 12,999. The base variant of the Mi A3 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage retails for Rs 12,999, whereas the 6GB+128GB storage model can be picked up for Rs 15,999. During the first few weeks, the Mi A3 can be availed with Rs 1,000 on both the variants using HDFC cards. The phone will be exclusive to Amazon India and the phone will be available for purchase at 12 PM on August 23.
