The Material Design philosophy has been one of the most talked about points of the Android 5.0 Lollipop. It brought with itself a UI design that was much more colourful, sophisticated, and cleaner than Holo UI. WhatsApp, the most popular instant messenger globally seems to have finally embraced the new design philosophy.
The update was waiting in the wings for quite some time and now it is finally here. The update is not available through the Google Play Store as of now, but you can download its APK file through its website. It is 19MB in size to update to version 2.12.34 of WhatsApp.
The update comes with revised icons, new animated and a revised emoji tray. And the feature of WhatsApp calling being available for every one without being called will continue to be offered without an issue post that.
We recently reported that Facebook was testing integration with WhatsApp for its mobile app. The feature may see a roll out in the coming few weeks. As far as the Material Design update is concerned, it will still take some time for it to reach the Google Play Store. But you can always head over to the company’s official website and update it ahead of others.
