Videocon to launch 4G services within 6-8 months, can this be a game changer ?

Videocon Telecom is in process of launching 4G service in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar telecom circles. The company plans to start 4G service in next 6-8 months time.

Videocon has already announced its plans to invest Rs 1,200 crore over three years on high-speed 4G LTE service. The company currently have 1800Mhz spectrum in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh/Chattisgarh, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Bihar. Videocon will use its entire spectrum in 1800 Mhz band that it won in November 2012 auction for the 4G service and has plan to deploy Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology to support voice calls.

“Our infrastructure is ready to roll out the services in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh comprises circles like UP (East) and UP (West). However, handsets which support this band, or any LTE band for that matter, are expensive currently and also not widely available. So we are waiting for the right kind of ecosystem to roll out the services”, said Arvind Bali, Director & CEO, Videocon Telecom reports Business standard.

Videocon has selected Huawei and Nokia Networks as its technology partner to deploy 4G service in 29 cities across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It has also announced that it will offer 4G mobile broadband at par with 2G and 3G rates in these 29 cities.

You are right ! Their 2G services are not good at all, they recently have promoted that they have 2.75G network but in real world airtel simple 2G has better speed than their so called 2.75G and moreover they have so many problems in their network, like many times internet connection stops responding and you need to restart your device again n again. Once i have bought their internet plan and i was having so many problems in it, thanx to tata docomo because videocon has 2G ICRA with TATA DOCOMO in haryana and i latched onto the tata’s network… Read more »

They don’t even have their own network in whole haryana. I was going to jaipur via delhi and in ncr while roaming it latched to vodafone and even after Moving out of ncr and coming back to haryana circle(manesar, rewari) the roaming reminder of R didn’t go away. So after searching manually i didn’t get any videocon signal and it failed to latch on to tata docomo even manually. So basically i was in roaming in home network itself. It happened to me thrice.

I think Aircel 4G will be in your list since I am getting the 4G signals of Aircel (at all the tier 1 and tier 2 cities*), Airtel (Salem, Coimbatore and Chennai) and JIO4G (at all the tier 1, tier 2* cities and at some of the tier 3 cities) in Tamilnadu for more than 6 months. Still no operator has launched 4G all over Tamilnadu.
