Viavi Introduces 1.6 Tbps Ethernet Testing Module
Testing and assurance vendor Viavi Solutions has announced the launch of the ONE-1600 module, designed to meet the testing and validation demands of the 1.6 Tbps ecosystem utilising 224G SERDES technology. Viavi's new ONE-1600 testing system is an addition to its ONE LabPro platform, which also includes the 800 Gbps test module known as the HSE-800. This new module, compatible with OSFP1600 and QSFP-DD1600 form factors, is initially available in a two-port configuration, Viavi said on Wednesday.

Key Features and Capabilities

As applications in AI, ML, high-performance computing (HPC), and quantum computing drive bandwidth needs, Viavi says the ONE-1600 addresses the challenges of high-speed testing with advanced features.

According to the official release, the ONE LabPro platform, which supports up to 64 x 1.6 Tbps or 128 x 800 Gbps test ports, offers high port density, scalability, and a modern web-based interface with a Python-based automation framework.

"Viavi is pleased to support the growing 1.6T development ecosystem with the ONE-1600 testing module," said Tom Fawcett, Senior Vice President and General Manager of lab and Production at Viavi. "Our ONE LabPro platform now supports 1.6 Tbps data rates on 224G SERDES in an innovative platform that will help our customers deliver on their aggressive, high-speed Ethernet roadmaps."

Industry Forecast and Adoption Trends

Viavi also quoted industry analysts, who anticipate an increase in 1.6 Tbps product adoption, forecasting a million units by 2025. InnoLight and Lumentum also emphasise the critical role of Viavi's testing solutions in advancing their high-speed optics and photonic devices.
