Kaspersky did a Lab survey wherein it asked nearly 3900 IT professionals across the globe about the challenges they encountered from the previous 12 months. Surprisingly 39% of the VSBs (Very Small Business) which generally have lesser than 25 employees said that they had managed the mobile integration. The thing is that the adaption rate in the smaller companies is similar to the ones in the companies having 1500-5000 employees. VSBs reported 6% more mobile integration than the small businesses and 2% more integration than the larger businesses.
This figure might also owe its existence to the fact that most of the VSBs don’t prescribe to a very strict work at office environment and allow employees work remotely. A major chunk of startups have a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy to cut the cost of the initial setup but 28% of the VSBs agreed that BYOD induces an increased IT security risk to their business. The larger companies had twice the response about the security threats due to BYOD.
The major threats come from the employee’s Mobile phone which includes malware and rouge applications which can steal the company data. Kaspersky recommended that the professionals can opt for a Basic Anti-theft along with the mobile protection. Another important aspect is educating the employees about the perils of the security leaks.
