Bonvillars data centre

The Bonvillars data centre enhances Swisscom's ability to provide georedundant architectures, ensuring secure data storage within Switzerland. It supports 24/7 monitoring, state-of-the-art security, and high-availability design, ensuring optimal data protection and resilience, the company said.

Benefits for Companies

"It has become apparent to Swisscom that, besides moving operations to the cloud, companies also want to keep some of their IT in Switzerland for resilience reasons. Colocation services are the ideal solution for this," Swisscom said this week.

Swisscom noted that the the Bonvillars data centre is a flexible and cost-efficient option for companies, enabling them to reserve capacities to manage utilisation peaks or cover occasional demand for increased performance, with data storage in Switzerland guaranteed.

Renewable Energy Usage

The Bonvillars centre is powered entirely by renewable energy, utilising free cooling and solar power to reduce CO2 emissions. It has been added to Swisscom's network of data centres across Switzerland in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, and Zurich.
