Sony ESPN HD another feather in the cap for DishTV; total HD count reaches 50 channels

DTH (Direct-to-Home) service provider DishTV has taken its total number of HD (high definition) channels to 50, with the addition of Sony ESPN in its bouquet of services.


The Sony ESPN HD channel will start its sporting calendar with the live broadcast of the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, among others.

The company claims that it has achieved a milestone with maximum number of HD channels and the number is highest in the DTH industry.

Arun Kapoor, Chief Executive Officer, DishTV India, said, “DishTV has always taken a lead in enhancing the TV viewing experience for our audience. To further add spruce to the sports lovers this sporting season, Dish TV has added Sony ESPN HD to its bouquet of channels.”

“Our endeavor is to increase affinity with our audiences by providing them the choice of content they would like to watch. Latest trends suggest that the growth of the High Definition category over the past year together with rising sales of flat panel TV’s (LED/LCD) has added a new dimension to the superior HD viewing experience,” he added.

DishTV provides a mix of high definition entertainment, music, news and regional language channels (for its viewers) and has maximum content with 50 HD channels, making it the highest in the country.

DishTV subscribers can now watch their favourite sports on Sony ESPN HD at channel no 87.

How and to whom i have to complain about that sony espn hd…they often broadcast something totally different from the fixture..i’m really fed up of this shameful channel

They have just renamed Sony Kix to say Sony ESPN. Nothing changes. Useless logo. No one can complete Star Sports in India now. They coverage and presentation is far better. Even the onscreen graphics.

Genius! [Almost] everyone knows that! But here, the discussion is on Sony ESPN HD which is a different channel i.e. different [and most probably], new television station. 🙂

Now I do hope that you don’t take it upon your “prestige” (i.e. make it a “prestige issue”) and therefore start arguing you “didn’t mean/said that” and the likes. Peace. 🙂
