Are you a Skype user in India and also a regular caller to the U.S and Canada? We have a good news for you, Skype has announced free calling offer to the aforementioned countries. The offer is exclusively for its India users.

Soon after announcing the real-time Translator Preview Program, Skype has now come up with this limited time offer, which enables Skype users in India to call any landline or mobile number in the US or Canada completely free of cost.

The offers stands open for both the new and existing Skype users in India until March 1, 2015 (11:59 pm IST). The statement on the Skype India homepage says,”Yes, that’s right – for a limited time only all calls from India to mobiles and landlines in the United States and Canada are completely free. And you don’t even need to do anything other than start calling.” The offer is an attempt to encourage more users for using Skype services in India.

The offer has started, and works flawlessly. Users simply need to login to their account and dial a number (U.S and Canada) as we dial normally on the basic phone dialer. Click here, to read all the terms and conditions attached with this offer.

This offer by Skype is in line with the recent announcement of Microsoft amalgamating with Amazon India in order to sell its variety of hardware and software products online. The Microsoft Brand Store at Amazon covers a wide product range such as Windows, Windows Phone, Laptops & Tablets, Office, Accessories to Xbox. Until now, Microsoft was selling devices through its dealers network, except for the software like Windows, Office, Visual Studio and more, which were being sold online since a long time.

It is only because Google launched Google voice in India with integration into hangouts offering free calling to USA and Canada that Microsoft started offering this free calling to not lose out on its subscriber base, otherwise there is no explanation why a company would just out of the blues start offering free calling. Also the additional benefit with Google voice that Skype doesn’t offer is the free international SMS and first minute of voice call free to 25 countries including India.

See voipyo(dot)com . Its calling rates are cheap compared to skype and viber credits.

For example :
Compare the calling rates to Kuwait and U.A.E of skype and voipyo(dot)com . Then you will know.
