Digital payments application, Mobikwik has been awarded the rights to sell the Reliance Jio's 4G Feature Phone in the country. Going forward customers can purchase the Reliance JioPhone from Mobikwik application for the same price. To be the noted, Mobikwik becomes the first platform to sell the JioPhone officially. All these days, the Mukesh Ambani's telco sold the JioPhone on its portal Jio.com and MyJio application itself.
Speaking on the association, Bikram Bir Singh, Business Head at MobiKwik said, “We are proud to become the first mobile wallet to sell Jio phones in India. Users can book their phone in four easy steps and avail great benefits as well.”
Post the purchase of JioPhone on Mobikwik application, customers will receive an SMS from Jio with transaction details and store details from where the JioPhone can be collected. Also, do make a note that the store person will ask for the identity verification. This method is quite similar to what we have seen during the first phase of JioPhone booking. In the past, we have seen several unofficial sellers listing the JioPhone on Amazon India website.
All these days, Jio tried selling the feature phone in its portal itself, but now, the company is exploring options to sell more units in order to grab more market share. However, the association with Mobikwik came as a surprise as it's digital payment service, unlike Paytm which has its own e-commerce platform.
As of this writing, Mobikwik is yet to list the JioPhone on its application. Maybe they will start selling it by the end of today.
