That’s not innovation on Reliance’s part, many such USB WiFi routers are available in the market that accept 3G and evdo data cards. What reliance needs to do is to launch a single data card that is dual technology and works on both evdo and 3G signals with WiFi inbuilt, and have it work on a common dual tech Sim that can latch on to the fastest data network in any given geographical area, where there is 3G spectrum it should latch on to that, where 3G is absent it should latch on to evdo rev B or rev A.… Read more »

Dear Esmail…do you ever get a car which allows Petrol/Diesel as fuel whichever is available. As consumers we want the sky, but do we have any idea on how will a particular technology will work? is it even possible? what will be the cost of such dual chipsets? are there OEMs who would be willing to offer it?

Suggestion is very easy my friend…

*It does seem like rocket science but Esmail is not wrong about his suggestion. Reliance has some very attractive 3G data rates and have a 3G GSM(WCDMA) as well as 3G CDMA(EVDO) network. Qualcomm do have modems that can support both WCDMA\EVDO as well as LTE. Certain iPhones in US have such modems. Qualcomm is ready to license their modems to inerested parties. Reliance can probably ask some OEM like ZTE to make data cards with such modems on board.
