The refurbished gadget market in India is in its nascent stages and the Indians are still in the process of adopting the same. Xiaomi is in the process of increasing the awareness about the same and has already tied up with GreenDust and Overcart to sell its refurbished devices. The company already sells the Redmi 1S in refurbished state in the country for Rs 4,599 on these two e-commerce platforms. Overcart has now announced that it will now commence the selling of refurbished Redmi Note 4G for Rs 7,999.
The smartphone will be available for Rs 7,999 and Rs 8,499 in refurbished guise. It will come with a six-month warranty from Xiaomi. It has already been declared that these are unboxed devices which were returned to Xiaomi after being purchased through Flipkart. These were then returned to the company due to reasons which made them non-saleable as new devices. These devices are as good as new because they were probably returned due to minor issues which were then rectified by Xiaomi or its authorised service center.
The refurbished smartphones have undergone quality checks and are completely functional like new devices. The smartphone can be pre-booked right away and it will become available for purchase through COD during its sale on April 27th. It will take place at 2:00 pm.
Xiaomi has undertaken a pretty smart move by entering the refurbished market as the OEMs currently do not sell their refurbished devices in India. This saves the company a lot of money in losses as the number of unsold devices with the company sees a southward revision as a result of the sale of refurbished handsets.
We can expect other devices from the company’s lineup to make their way to the refurbished sales in future.
