India now has a new Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he is expected to bring a world of changes to the governance of the country. His cabinet was announced at his swearing in ceremony and we have Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad as the new telecom and law minister. The telecom sector in country has been hit by a slew of scams and he’ll surely have a lot of things to take care of when he steps up for the big game.
He was the Coal and Mines Minister back in 2000 and played an instrumental role in accelerating the reforms in that arena. Talking about the reforms he has brought in, the fast track courts which are a boon for the nation are to the man’s credit as well. He has also played a key role in bringing about changes in the field of radio, television and animation when he was the information and broadcasting minister.
He steps into the shoes of Kapil Sibal who tried doing his bit for us and gave us the much famed Aakash tablet. The new telecom minister has a lot of issues to take care of and we are experience a transition phase in the telecom sector too where 2G is making way for 3G and 4G but is still dominant. Let us see how the new minister helps us and the telecom sector.
