Alongside the Oppo F9 Pro last month, Oppo also announced the Oppo F9 in India. However, the company did not reveal the pricing of the smaller variant. Today, Oppo confirmed that the Oppo F9 would be available for purchase in India from September 15, 2018, at a price of Rs 19,990. To recall, the Oppo F9 Pro has been unveiled at Rs 23,990 and it's already available for purchase in the country. The Oppo F9 differs from the F9 Pro in three ways- downgraded selfie camera, no fast charging and comes with 4GB of RAM, as opposed to the Oppo F9 Pro which has a 25MP selfie camera and 6GB of RAM. Also, the Oppo F9 is the cheapest smartphone to feature a waterdrop notch as both the Oppo F9 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro are priced considerably higher than F9.

Oppo F9 Specifications and Features

As mentioned above, the spec sheet of the Oppo F9 is quite identical to that of its sibling Oppo F9 Pro. The F9 also rocks a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display on the front carrying a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it has the same MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For the uninitiated, MediaTek Helio P60 is the same chipset we have seen on smartphones such as the Oppo F7 and Realme 1 in the past. It's an octa-core processor with all the cores clocked at 2.0GHz.

The phone also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. This Dual 4G supported smartphone comes laden with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2. Cameras on the Oppo F9 include 16MP+2MP shooters on the rear side and a 16MP shooter is present on the front side. The Oppo F9 features a downgraded selfie camera because the Oppo F9 Pro has a 25MP shooter.

The fingerprint sensor is present on the rear side and the device measures 169 grams. It's backed by a 3500mAh battery, but Oppo has not added the VOOC Flash Charge technology to this device. Connectivity options include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and a Micro USB port.

Oppo F9 Pricing and Availability

The Oppo F9 price in India is Rs 19,990, which is Rs 4,000 less than the Oppo F9 Pro's price. The F9 can be purchased in two colour options- Mist Black and Stellar Purple. The device can be grabbed from September 15 exclusively on Flipkart. Alternatively, users can head over to a nearby retail store to pick up the handset.

Oppo F9 Competitors in India

As for the competitors of the Oppo F9 in India, we have the Honor Play priced at Rs 19,999 in the country which features far superior hardware. The Honor Play has the flagship Kirin 970 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 6GB of storage, 16MP+5MP dual cameras and a slightly larger 3750mAh battery.
