Ooredoo has successfully tested 5.5G technology in Oman, achieving high network speeds and setting a new standard for connectivity in the region. The company announced that the new technology reached a single-user peak rate of over 4.6 Gbps during the test, marking the fastest network speed ever recorded in Oman. "This isn't just an upgrade; it’s a whole new level of speed, capacity, and reliability that's set to redefine connectivity in Oman," Ooredoo said in a statement on Monday.

Ooredoo said this positions it at the forefront of telecommunications innovation, bridging the gap between 5G and the anticipated future of 6G technology. The 5.5G network offers significant enhancements in speed, capacity, and reliability, providing a platform for seamless digital experiences.

With high capacity, low latency, and wide bandwidth, 5.5G is poised to revolutionise real-time services such as autonomous vehicles and telemedicine, and improve connectivity in dense urban areas.
