OnePlus, last week officially confirmed that its next smartphone would be called as OnePlus 5 and also gave a detailed information on why the company is skipping the OnePlus 4. And today, the Chinese vendor has teased the phone with a tagline ‘Hello 5,’ which ultimately confirms that the upcoming phone would be called as OnePlus 5.
Hours before the company’s official teaser, two schematic design images of the phone have surfaced on Weibo. These pictures have revealed some key details of the upcoming phone. While it’s still uncertain whether the phone will pack dual cameras at the back owing to earlier speculations, these images show that the device will pack four cameras - two at the front for selfies and two at the back.
The design of the phone in these images is in-line with what previous leaks showed us; there’s a vertically placed rear camera setup below which is a OnePlus logo. However, the presence of dual front-facing cameras is interesting here as none of the smartphones released until now has four cameras.
Furthermore, the images show that there will be a camera bump at the back same as the OnePlus 3 and 3T. The positions of the alert slider, USB Type-C port, speaker grille, 3.5mm headphone jack port, and antenna bands are unchanged, which is a surprise. Overall, these images show that the phone will look similar to the OnePlus 3 and 3T, barring minor tweaks here and there.
That said, nothing is official about the phone till now, and we suggest you take this info with a pinch of salt. Besides the design of the phone, some rumours revealed the information regarding hardware of the phone.
The OnePlus 5 is said to feature the same 5.5-inch Full HD display as its predecessors - OnePlus 3, 3T. Under-the-hood, the device will have a Snapdragon 835 SoC, paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and Adreno 540 GPU. A 3600mAh beefy battery may fuel the entire package. OnePlus also confirmed that they would release the phone this summer, which is not too far away.
