HMD Global's mid-range smartphone, the Nokia 7 is now likely to launch in the global market in early 2018. The Nokia 7, so far is exclusive to the Chinese market since its launch in October 2017. HMD officials at the launch of Nokia 2 in India also confirmed that the Nokia 7 would be limited to China for some time. It is likely that the company will make the Nokia 7 global at the MWC 2018 event.
If you recall, the Nokia 6 was launched in China in January 2017, and HMD made the Nokia 6 global at the MWC 2017 event. Hopefully, the same might happen this year as well. The Nokia 7 features decent hardware for a mid-range smartphone, and it's also the company's first smartphone with a glass body.
The Nokia 7 early 2018 global launch is reported by Android Headlines, and the report also added that a recently spotted Nokia device with model number- TA-1041 is indeed the international variant of the Nokia 7. HMD Global is eying for a big 2018, and the company is reportedly looking to launch four smartphones on January 19 in China- Nokia 9, Nokia 8 (2018), Nokia 6 (2018), and Nokia E41 feature phone.
The Nokia 7 sports a metal frame and glass back, and it even features Nokia's trademark design. The Nokia 7 has a fingerprint scanner placed on its back, which again is a first for any Nokia phone under HMD Global.
Currently, the Nokia 7 is available for purchase in China, and the company has received over 1.5 million registrations before the first sale, which explains the entire demand for the device. It flaunts a 5.2-inch Full HD display and is powered by the Snapdragon 630 chipset.
Incidentally, the Nokia 7 is also the company's first smartphone to be driven by Snapdragon 6XX series chipset. The device comes in 4GB and 6GB RAM variant with the internal storage going all the way up to 64GB. Internal storage can also be expanded with a microSD card.
At the back of the phone, there's a single 16MP sensor, which is paired with a dual-tone LED flash. At the front of the phone, there's a 5MP sensor for selfies and video calls. This entire package is backed by a 3000mAh battery. The global variant of the device will run stock Android Oreo out of the box.
The Nokia 7 in India may be priced around Rs 25,000 for the 4GB RAM variant. There's no official confirmation from HMD yet on the global launch date.
