HMD Global’s Nokia 6 will be getting an update for 2018, according to a recent leak from China. This makes sense as the original Nokia 6 was first unveiled in January last year, and incidentally, it was the first Android-powered Nokia smartphone from the house of HMD Global. The upgrade of Nokia 6, for now, is said to be Nokia 6 (2018), and guess what, the device has now received TENAA certification, hinting the launch is nearing.

An upcoming Nokia 6 (2018) was spotted for TENAA certification in China. A smartphone with TA-1054 model number with dual SIM was revealed in the screenshot. The TENAA certification also has some images of the smartphone, and the Nokia 6 (2018) will be first Nokia smartphone to sport a bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio, making this the first Nokia device to feature the new tall screen.

While details are unavailable yet, rumours suggest it will come with latest Snapdragon 600 series specifically the previous rumour pointed out at the usage of Snapdragon 660 SoC. The RAM too will get upgraded to 4GB in the upcoming Nokia 6 (2018).

As you can see in the images, the design of the smartphone remains the same as the original Nokia 6, but the front will be slightly changed due to the 18:9 display which covers the major portion of the front. Thanks to the same screen real estate, the fingerprint scanner on the device will be moved to the back, placed between the Nokia logo and rear camera.

Sadly, the Nokia 6 (2018) will also have a single rear camera, which is expected because of the Nokia 7, which features a dual rear camera setup for the mid-range price tag. These details haven’t been confirmed yet.

The Nokia 6 (2018) is expected to land in China first sometime in January 2018, but it is highly anticipated to go global at the MWC 2018 event. The launch event might happen on January 19, 2018.

In addition, there will be another Nokia 9 smartphone releasing in the second half of January. The Nokia 9 will be the company's first flagship smartphone with 18:9 display, and upgraded cameras. Under the hood, the Nokia 9 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC. Alongside these two Nokia devices, the Nokia 8 (2018) is also expected to hit the shores.

To recall, Nokia 6 comes with 5.50 inch Full HD display. The device is powered by 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor. It comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage as well microSD card for expansion. As for cameras, there is a 16MP rear camera with LED Flash and an 8MP selfie shooter on the front. The device runs Android Nougat out of the box.
