HMD Global has already sent out media invites for its MWC event where is expected to unveil the flagship Nokia 9, Nokia 1 Android Go Edition smartphones. Along with these, the company is expected to bring international variants of already announced Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7. Two models of the same devices, in single and dual-SIM iterations, were recently certified by the FCC. The smartphones with the model numbers TA-1016 and TA-1045 visited FCC. These are likely to be the single and dual-SIM variants of either Nokia 6 (2018) or Nokia 7 as per the reports.
Both the devices were spotted with 3000mAh battery under the hood. This possibility means the device will either be the Nokia 7 or the Nokia 6 (2018), as both of these ships with a 3000mAh battery. The FCC certifications didn’t reveal any further specs about these phones.
However, one thing is sure, both these variants are US-bound as HMD has disabled the non-US frequencies and other country code selections as well. The company attests that the device “does not support any non-US [bandwidth] channels in all the operation modes(s),” indicating that upcoming devices are, indeed intended for the United States market.
The codename appears to be Avatar which was once thought to belong to the upcoming Nokia 9. The screenshot of the certification also confirms the Nokia device will likely head to Canada.
Finally, the smartphone is also listed with Android 8.0 Oreo software and the November 2017 security patch level. The Chinese variants of the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo update just a few days ago. The rollout of the update was confirmed by the company through micro-blogging site Weibo. So it is not surprising to see international variants of upcoming Nokia devices to come with Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box.
HMD Global is expected to launch at least three new Nokia smartphones, alongside the already unveiled Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 which are available in the Chinese market. The three Nokia smartphones in question are Nokia 1 Android Oreo Go Edition smartphone, Nokia 8 (2018), and the flagship Nokia 9 with Snapdragon 835 SoC on board.
