Motorola did not launch anything at the MWC 2018, but the company will be unveiling its entry-level Moto E range of devices at a special event on April 3. One of the reliable tipsters of Motorola phones, Andri Yatim today revealed key details of upcoming Moto E devices- the Moto E5 Play, Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus. The Moto E5 Plus will feature better specifications, followed by the Moto E5 and lastly the Moto E5 Play will have least specifications of the three. The E5 Plus is expected to come in two variants with Snapdragon 430 chipset and MediaTek MT675X chipset. Yatim, however, did not reveal the processor details of other Motorola devices, but mostly, they will also feature the same MediaTek chipset.
Moto E5 Plus Rumoured Specifications
As stated, the Moto E5 Plus will have the best specifications of the three phones. The E5 Plus will have a 5.8-inch display on the front, and it will be the first Moto E device to have an 18:9 display. But the resolution of the panel is 720p. The device, as stated above will come in two chipset variants- one with a Snapdragon 430 SoC and the other one with a MediaTek MT675X chipset. The latter is expected to make its way into the Indian market like last year.
The E5 Plus will be maxed out at 3GB of RAM (no 4GB RAM variant, sadly), but Motorola will be adding 64GB of internal storage to the phone, on the brighter side. And the Plus variant will come with a beefy 5000mAh battery, like the last year's Moto E4 Plus device.
A while back, Evan Blass leaked the image of Moto E5 Plus, which revealed the design of the phone. The front of the phone will be largely dominated by the display itself and to the top, we get a selfie flash as well. The fingerprint scanner will be present to the back, inside the Moto dimple and there is a dual rear camera module. But the image clearly shows a single camera sensor. Yatim suggests that the other camera hole will house focus/depth sensor. So the E5 Plus will indeed come with a dual camera setup.
Moto E5 Rumoured Specifications
Next up, we have the Moto E5 which will be a stripped down version of the Moto E5 Plus. The E5 will not feature an 18:9 display, but instead, it comes with a 5.5-inch 16:9 display with 720p resolution. At the back of the phone, there will be a 16MP rear camera, which will be followed by a 5MP front-facing camera. The device will be available in a single 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage model. And it will be backed by a 3028mAh battery.
Moto E5 Play Rumoured Specifications
And finally, we have the Moto E5 Play smartphone with least specifications of all. The E5 Play will have a smaller 5.2-inch 16:9 display with a 720p display, but on the brighter side, it will have a 4000mAh battery. At the rear, a 12MP sensor will be present along with a 5MP selfie unit on the front.
All the three smartphones are expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Also, the launch date of the Moto E5 series is expected to be April 3 because all the renders of Moto E5 Plus and E5 have April 3 written on the home screen clock widget.
