I&B minister Prakash Javedekar had recently expressed his concern over the fact that better quality STB(Set Top Box) were being exported and the lower quality ones being sold in the domestic market. He then expressed the Government’s willingness to help the local STB manufacturers especially with the issues related to the taxation.

The manufacturers on the contrary comforted the Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry that they be able to meet out the demand for 11 Crore STBs which are the quintessential elements for the final phases of cable digitisation.

The local STB manufacturers expressed their delight when the Government approved the request for the C- Form. They also expressed that they have the required capacity to meet the complete demands of the STB and also added that this initiative by the Government will give employment to almost 50000 people and additionally help in securing an investment of Rs 500 Crore.

Hope this doesn't spoil the STB market with faulty devices which will spoil the TV viewing experience
