Lava might unveil second-generation Android One smartphone next week

Google had announced three Android One smartphones last year – Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V, and Spice Dream Uno –, and all of them were priced somewhere around Rs. 6,000. Due to their lower price tag, the specifications were quite low-end, especially their 4GB internal storage, making them useless for heavy smartphone users.

Earlier this month, reports came out stating that Google was planning to launch second generation of Android One smartphones with better specifications. We reported that Lava might introduce this Android One smartphone on July 14, but that didn't happen. Now, Lava has teased an image that points towards the announcement of a new Android One smartphone next week.

Google released a second-generation Android One smartphone in Turkey earlier this year dubbed General Mobile 4G, and as per the leaked specifications of the upcoming Android One smartphone from Lava, it looks like a similarly-specced device.

I have been using an Android One device, the Karbonn Sparkle V, and other than the limited internal storage, I didn't notice any performance issues in day-to-day usage. If Lava releases this device at a price of somewhere around Rs. 15,000, it could be a great choice for people looking for smartphones in the mid-range price category.
