HMD Global has just announced that the popular mid-range smartphone, the Nokia 6 will be available in the offline market starting today. Until now, the smartphone was sold exclusively on Amazon India. Ajey Mehta, Vice President and Country Head at HMD has announced this news on his Twitter handle.
To recall, the Nokia 6 was announced in June 2017 in India, but it was in August 2017 the smartphone went on for sale for the first time. Priced at Rs 14,999, HMD conducted a couple of flash sales for the smartphone before selling it as an open sale model. Thankfully, HMD did not increase the price of the Nokia 6, and it remains the same at Rs 14,999 even for the offline market.
Going forward, the Nokia 6 will be available in both offline and online market. The smartphone will be across major offline stores, and Amazon India will continue selling it in the online market. With this move, all the HMD' smartphones till date- the Nokia 2, the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5, the Nokia 6, and the Nokia 8 are available in the offline market. Of course, the Nokia 3310 is also sold in the offline market.
Just yesterday, HMD announced the Nokia 2 smartphone in the Indian market. The Nokia 2 is priced at Rs. 6,999, and it's an offline-only model available for purchase starting today.
The Nokia 6 is a good smartphone that stands out in the market with its design, display, and stock Android. Talking about the specifications, the Nokia 6 offers a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 430 SoC, Adreno 505 GPU for handling graphics, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. There's a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB.
The Nokia 6 has a 16MP rear camera, and an 8MP adores the front of the phone. This dual-SIM smartphone boots Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box and HMD even promised Android 8.0 Oreo update roll out as 'around the corner.' A 3000mAh battery backs this entire package.
HMD Global is currently in the process of rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update to Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8 smartphones. The Nokia 8 will receive the update first, followed by the Nokia 6, and Nokia 5. Lastly, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 2 (first impressions) will receive the update early next year.
