Breaking: Airtel Launches Rs 99 Unlimited Data Pack

Bharti Airtel has launched Rs 99 Unlimited Data Pack for its users. If we consider the backdrop of this move, Airtel is earnestly taking steps to simultaneously offer consumer-friendly tariff options and boost ARPU (Average Revenue Per User). Airtel has achieved an ARPU of Rs 200, presently the highest in the industry.

Airtel provides a range of Truly Unlimited Plans to suit different usage patterns and consumer needs. However, Data Packs come into play when users exhaust the high-speed data quota bundled with their plans. If you are a regular reader of TelecomTalk, you are likely aware that Airtel is considering data monetisation as a lever to increase ARPU, and as part of this strategy, they have introduced a new Rs 99 Data Pack.

Let's delve into the benefits of Airtel's newly launched Rs 99 Unlimited Data Pack.

Airtel Rs 99 Data Pack

The Airtel Rs 99 Data Pack offers consumers unlimited data with a validity of 1 day. However, a Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 30GB applies. After consuming 30GB of high-speed data, Airtel users can continue to use unlimited data at speeds of 64Kbps. Please note that in order to take advantage of this data pack, you must have an active base plan.

Airtel Unlimited 5G

It's important to note that in areas where Airtel 5G Plus is available and if you are subscribed to an Unlimited 5G Benefit bundled Airtel Truly Unlimited plan, you can enjoy unrestricted 5G data without daily limits. Nevertheless, the newly launched Airtel Rs 99 Data Pack can be beneficial when you are in a non-5G area and using a 4G handset. This pack provides additional high-speed data for any surged data needs or unexpected consumption.

Conclusion

During Bharti Airtel's earnings call for the first quarter ending June 30, 2023, Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer emphasised that premiumisation and data monetisation are key growth drivers to increase revenue and ARPU. Airtel's Rs 99 Unlimited Data Pack seems to be a step in that direction. For users requiring extra data while on the move or in areas without wired broadband, the Rs 99 Data Pack with a 1-day validity serves the purpose well.

Airtel's entry-level Truly Unlimited plan starts at Rs 155 with a validity of 24 days. Assuming a user opts for this 99 Data pack at least once a month, their total recharge amount for a given cycle would be Rs 254.

However, it's worth noting that Airtel already offers a Rs 296 Truly Unlimited Plan providing 25GB of high-speed data, voice, SMS, Airtel Thanks Benefits, and unlimited 5G data with a validity of 30 days. You can know about the benefits of the plan from the link below.

Nevertheless, we believe the Rs 99 Pack is aimed at 4G users who encounter unexpected data requirements during their recharge cycle, and the bulk data bundled with the plan aptly serves the purpose while also serving as a lever for data monetisation.
