Bharti Airtel, the largest telco by subscriber number, has emerged as the most trusted telecom brand in the country, according to Economic Times Brand Equity’s Most Trusted Brands report.

Bharti Airtel stood at the eleventh spot, as compared to twelfth spot in an earlier study. Vodafone India also surged four spots to reach at 24 in the current findings, and became the second most trusted telecom brand in India.
Idea Cellular, the third largest telecom operator by subscribers, improved its ranking considerably and rose up to 43 from the earlier 174 spot, becoming the third most trusted telecom brand in the country, according to the findings.
Interestingly, state-run telco BSNL, which has been struggling to keep up the pace with competition, and is working towards becoming a profitable entity with the Indian government’s support, has emerged as the fourth most trusted telecom brand in India. It stood at 47 spot, up from 74, the report said.
ET’s Most Trusted Brands report identified brands that have that most special ingredient: the consumer’s trust. The survey, conducted by Nielsen, is among the largest researches of its kind in India, with a design sample of 7,200 distributed across socio economic classifications, age, income and geography, an ET report said.
