Apple iPhone SE 2 Launch Nearing Suggests Regulatory Filing

The Apple iPhone SE 2 is arriving as the smartphone is allegedly listed in the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) database. The EEC, on Tuesday, listed more than 10 iPhone models and all of them are unreleased models. However, it’s unclear which models will Apple be releasing because we are long away from the next wave of iPhones (the iPhone X successor). So the newer models could be of the Apple iPhone SE 2 which is expected to make an appearance at the WWDC 2018 conference in June. In the past, the EEC database revealed details about the Apple’s 2018 iPad which went official on March 27 and a couple of other products such as Apple AirPods and MacBooks way before the launch. So this is an indication that Apple is preparing an iPhone for releasing at the WWDC 2018 event, and it could be the successor to the iPhone SE, which was released two years ago.

That said, the regulatory filing did not reveal the hardware specifications of the upcoming smartphone, but it confirmed that the device would be running iOS 11. This is another indication that these newer models do not belong the 2018 iPhones.

The World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2018 begins on June 4 as Apple already pushed invites for the same. The iPhone SE 2 is expected to feature similar hardware as the iPhone SE. A 4-inch Retina display and the Apple iPhone 7 design is heavily expected for the upcoming compact smartphone.

Hardware side of things, Apple might go with the same A10 Fusion chipset, which it used on the Apple iPad 2018. And the chipset might be coupled with 2GB of RAM. It might come in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage models, but the regulator listing did not reveal any details. If recent Apple’s track record is to be considered, the iPhone SE 2 will be available in just 32GB and 128GB storage options.

Apple will surely upgrade cameras on this device. The Cupertino-based company might pack the iPhone 8’s camera on this upcoming device with f/1.8 aperture and quad-LED flash. The phone is expected to offer Optical Image Stabilisation. The selfie camera on the smartphone might receive a bump to a 7MP unit, as seen on the latest iPhones.

And of course, the reason for a special edition iPhone is the low-end price tag. The iPhone SE 2 is expected to come at a very lower price as compared to the Apple iPhone 8, 8 Plus and the iPhone X. There are some rumours that Apple is considering to launch the SE 2 at half of the price of the iPhone X, but nothing is confirmed for now.

Indian made iPhone quality is suspect. It’s more along the lines of fake-in-india. This is expected when you use low quality recycled taiwanese components rebadged as new to remain profitable. India is anyway a dumping ground for those who cannot pay top dollar for a genuine high quality product costing upwards of 50K.

First off, no recycled component is being used in SE production. I have been using iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone SE (India). You cannot differentiate the quality of both. The SE (Indian version) is in top notch quality. In fact the iPhone 5 I had earlier was very poor in quality. You should experience first before posting a comment.

Should have been A11 Bionic. A10 is a fossil now.

In a world where most people are used to 5 inch screen minimum, Apple is still dishing out 4 inch screen even in 2018! Height of stupidity!

iPhone SE 2 should have had at worst and at least 4.5 inch screen if not more. It would have cost Apple just 2 dollars more to have 4.5 inch screen instead of 4 inch screen! Petty Apple!

Maybe know a little bit before commenting? Otherwise, you will look stupid. They already have a 4.7″, 5.5″ and 5.8″ screen iPhones. And yes, there are people who prefer phones at phone sizes and not tablet sizes, and iPhone SE serves that demographic.

You already look dupid, because you have commented without understanding the point. iPhone SE caters to the entry level segment/pricing, unlike other iPhone models. There are certainly some people who will prefer 4″ screen (some even lesser than that) but they are in minority. I’m sure you have some sense to understand that normally products are made to cater to what majority of people like/need/want and not the other way around.

There is no entry level and no exit level, hardware will keep coming….even flagship devices have problems.they have launched gaming phones with cooling systems.what a gimmick bull**”* phones are now used not for phone but for entertainment purpose will give full windows 10 in hand ……Apple will continue launching A Chips so will Qualcomm’s

Do you even understand the concept of customer segmentation? Or do you just want an iPhone X at iPhone SE price? If you cannot afford an X, go buy what you can and be happy with it. Just don’t expect Apple to lower their prices for you.

Before once again mindlessly commenting with low level English and tone, read and look at Apple’s own statement that iPhone SE caters to entry level price-concious customers for developing economies. So whether you like it or not Apple itself recognises such segment and it exists for every product. If tomorrow someone/a section of people says 3 inch smartphone is comfortable and prefered and not 4 inch, will Apple produce 3 inch smartphone? There is little difference between 4.5 inch and 4 inch smartphone. If Apple increases the screen to body ratio, even 5 inch will get the in-hand feel of… Read more »
